Swap out the trigger disconnect and it will shoot even better. I put a 3.5lb in my wifes (easy part swap) and I promise you that you wouldn't want to be "trying" to mess with her. She is quite accurate with it, wearing out milk jugs at 25-35 yds. Those G26's are some good shooters.

I'm in a dilemma right now as I am looking for a new ccw. I really "want" the Kimber CDP Ultra II & probably will end up with it...I'm almost there on saving my pennies. My dilemma is that I could buy two baby Glock .45's for the price of the Kimber...but I just love the 1911 platform.

I'm a big Kimber fan also as I have three but the Colt defender is a fantastic CCW in 1911. Plus it's less $$.
As far as the Glock goes I also changed out the conecting bar and firing pin spring along with the extended mag release and slide release. cheap mods, they drop in quickily and make a huge change in how it fires and carries!! If you don't change the firing pin spring along with the conecting bar it lightens the trigger pull but will not get the 3.5 LB pull.

That extended mag release mod is a PITA from what I remember! Did that to the wife's, then had to take the dremel to it as it stuck out too far. That's one of the mods that you never hear me recommend actually.

I'll have to look at the Defender, thanks for the input. Does it come with "melted" or rounded carry edges? Since it's a stainless slide, I guess it doesn't matter as I can do it myself if needed.

i also like the 1911 look , there was a brand that i dont remember what it was that the dealer i was at was pushing that was a 4" barrel 1911 looking pistol but those kimbers are real nice ... my gun of choice all around was the H&K USP but when i bought my first 3 they didnt cost $800 , i had to let go of almost all my guns at one point and am just now building back up the collection the last few years !!

1911's do have a classic look, however I have yet to find another platform that has such a good trigger...and that's a regular trigger in a 1911, much less a match set-up. There are many other really nice guns out there & I have owned my fair share of them...but they aren't a 1911. A 1911 is a lot like a straight razor, most folks will look at you funny and brush you off when you start talking about them. They just don't understand. Sure there are pistols that will hold more, be lighter, smaller, or more accurate (not many)...but I don't know of one that pulls the whole package together as well as the 100+ year old 1911 does. To each their own I know...but those who have owned one will most likely agree rather quickly, especially if they are a shooter.

How about a Gold Cup Delta Elite 10mm ........ only made it in blue in '91 and it is a tack driver.
