I've owned Japanese bikes ever since I have been riding. Started out in streetbikes on a Honda Magna, two Blackbirds, now a VTX. I guess you can say I'm a Honda guy as that sums up 20+ years of riding...

More to directly answer your question, it's according to what you ride. Most popular bikes have a following and someone will usually get something going.

There are several great forums about Japanese (as well as European & Russian) bikes in UK. I used to be active back years ago but nowadays i read mostly Scandinavian forums and the languages might be little difficult for you.
However, if there's anything you want to know, you can ask here in SRP too. I think there are many who own bikes. I've had bikes for almost 30 years. Mostly Japanese, but had some from Europe and Russia too. Nowadays i'll ride Bandit 1200S '05.

If you do a google search for the brand of the motorcycle along with "forums" you might find a dedicated forum. Maybe even a forum dedicated to a particular model if it is popular enough.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I haven't settled on a brand or model yet, I'm still researching what to get, and my Chinese isn't good enough to discuss it with the locals.

If you're thinking of a Chinese sled, I'd seriously reconsider.

Japanese stuff is dependable and you can get a lot bang for the buck. All of the rice stuff I've messed with over the years has been very smooth running. I currently have a 1979 Honda GoldWing that was given to me. Horizontally opposed 4cyl engine that is smooth as silk. Makes pretty good HP if you twist the wick hard enough. It rides OK, I don't care for the riding position but that's just me.

All that being said, I'll stay with the one I took to the dance.

I'm too old and hard headed to learn to wrench in metric.

Someday this mess will be fire breather.

I'm not advocating that you mess with big twins by any stretch of the imagination. All my stuff is old and contrary, but I understand its limitations and its foibles. OLD HD junk is FULL of foibles too.

I'd follow the advice above and find a forum dedicated to the brand you think you'd like to own and just read what's being said about this or that.

    IF I had the money, I'd be riding a TRIUMPH ROCKET III. I don't, so it's a non-issue. LOL
