Great espresso - Northbound's American Beauty
Where are all the espresso drinkers around here? In case any of you are lurking and looking for something new to try, consider Northbound Roaster's (Mt Shasta, CA) "American Beauty." It's a lighter roasted blend of S. American beans that's really knocking my socks off. They advertise it as bringing Dutch cocoa and fig flavors. It's very well-balanced and tastes better as a straight shot to me than in milk. But, I love it in cappas also.
Anyway, if you are looking to try something new, check out American Beauty. You can't go wrong. 17 to 18gr at about 199.5F.

Thanked: 32I love espresso from lighter roast beans, but there's only 2 places within 3 hours of me that serve it. One time they had a single origin Ethiopian Worka that was full of blueberry flavor. Not so easy to do a 250 mile round trip just to get it though.
In general, Washington DC area has a poor availability of really exceptional espresso. Most people here just wouldn't know good coffee if it hit them in the face.

I don't do anything before having my minimum 2 espressos in the morning. There's no better way to start your day, IMHO.
