Thanked: 2027New to me wood,Afzelia Xylay
I think most will agree, wood is one of the finer things in life (mods pls move if need be).
Friend gifted me with some Aflezia Xylay burl, have never heard of, nor seen the wood before.
Google states that it comes from S.E asia, the finest from Vietnam.
Am making a Loom strop using it,the endcap on the handle is Lignum,Is a wonderfull wood to work and turn.
Is also known as a tonel wood,it actually rings when struck with a hard object.
Only finish is a little bees wax followed by some ren wax, than a soft buff wheel with white diamond.
Something you scale guys might be interested in,I see you can find it on the bay. alot of fun had bye all, and nobody got killed

You need a razor to match.
It is interesting wood to work with. You can get some very nice alligator curling in the top grade XY Lay wood.
