I picked up a J.E.A. Zella bolt action .22 recently and discovered the firing pin was too short (probably just worn down). I drilled it out (destroying it in the process) and THEN discovered the drift pin holding it in place.

So, anyway, now I don't know what it looked like. It did move back and forth a tiny bit before I 'fixed' it, so I'm guessing there was a slot in it a bit bigger than the drift pin. But maybe that pin was bent, allowing it to move, and it was supposed to be held tight, and the whole bolt was supposed to move forward to fire the round?

Does anyone know how it is supposed to look and work? I'm hoping it will be relatively easy to make a new one.

There a couple of Cooey .22s going up for auction tomorrow. Maybe if the bolts are similar and the auction bids are low enough I can simply swap bolts, or just the pin (driving out the drift pin this time! )
