Digital Camera
I sm looking to buy a camera to take pica of the razors I have acquired. Actually just an all around camera. My budget is in the $200 range. So far.I like the nikon 6300. It seems to to pretty nice closeups. Just curious on what folks are using here. Thanks

In that range, I would look at the Canons & Kodaks. At the top end of $1,000.00, I would then consider the Nikon models.
Just my thoughts.

I have an old Sony Cybershot probably 6 years old and ancient by current standards but it works just fine. Unless you need state of the art, for typical web photos you don't need much.

Thanked: 18Hi, in a $200.00 range I would recommend a Nikon camera. I have owned at least a couple of them, since I am very fond of that brand. Go for it!

Thanked: 3227Hard to go wrong with most major brands in the $200 range today. Go and try a few out to see which you like and understand how they work, by that I mean a user friendly menu if they even exists. If you are mainly posting to the web or viewing on a big screen TV most will do the trick there too. For an all a rounder lens a wide to long optical zoom. A stabilized camera/lens is also a valuable feature to have.

Thanked: 79I kind of agree with BobH above, but I also think the Panasonic Lumix DMC- line offers one of the best price/performance ratios on the market today. For example, apart from the body and the software, the DMC-LX5 has the identical Leica lens and internals as the Leica D-Lux 5, but the Lumix retails for $300 - $400, while the Leica is still going for $650 - $800.
With your budget today, I might look at the DMC-ZS8...

Thanked: 1936I've got an old nikon coolpix that still is going strong & it was about that price...probably 5 years ago when 8mp was the baddest a pocket camera offered. A higher mega-pixel camera is handy as you can simply cut/crop out the stuff you don't want in the photo & it will still be a nice clear photo. Also consider the price of memory cards into your decision. I would choose a higher mega-pixel over the high zoom function unless you are shooting a lot off a steady tripod. With that in mind, go to your local walmart, play with them, and pick the one that suites your fancy. If you are really wanting to do some research...try picking up a consumer reports.

Thanked: 983I use a Canon DSLR or my mobile 'phone. Both do the job equally as well for posting on the forum. The DSLR is more computer friendly to download though. I would image a decent compact digital camera could be had for $200. Maybe a Canon Powershot S100 might suit the price bracket.

Thanks for all the replies. I have decided on the panasonic lumix zs20, over my original price but well worth it I think.
