Check out a 4.25 in 1911. They're surprisingly good for walking around and thin as can be.

Thanks for the tip.. And it would have been my firearm of choice if it was legal to do so by any means in this country. Don't need a high-cap mag, .45 has plenty of stopping power for the unarmored thug, and yes, it's got quite a sleek profile. I'll probably get one anyway, for a bit of plinking, but I got higher priorities on the gun shopping list.
