Hi,
Robinson is "Done" :-)
I will hold off on mentioning those I have been through as it may stiffle conversation, by keeping it open suggestions may be made that could help others.
Let me mention one though... a Jock who really blew me off my chair.... Really, really REALLY hard... but with much black Humour.... Stuart MacBride... its a series that will have me rereading them at some stage...
Best
Chris

Chances of missing him seem slim but I'll kick off with Sir Aurthur Conan Doyle

The other British crime authors that I can think of at the moment are
Agatha Christie and P. D. James,
but you will probably find several more if you search for the book-threads here.

Have you read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier? Great book and also made into a great movie by Alfred Hitchcock.

Dorthy L. Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey.series of novels are great. Not crime but P.G. Wodehouse is also well worth reading if you like humor.

JimmyHAD,
A straight razor was the murder weapon in Dorothy Sayer's 'Have His Carcass' - there are some good discussions of razors in that book
Have fun !
Best regards
