Yeah, the Holden FC was a little like a small Chevy with a small engine. I loved that car; I had the little blinds in the windows and everything. The windscreen wipers were vacuum driven, they went faster the faster you drove, which seems a little silly, i.e. drive really really fast in heavy rain...Quote:

This is the auto I used to drive when I was a Chocko. As far as autos go this one could be fun. I enjoyed it, but sometimes the wild life didn't.
Left knee surgery makes using a manual a pain (no pun) but Im not driving my truck I do drive a motorcycle, a Honda Shadow, so I do keep the manual tradition going in some way
Yup, winter beater is a 1989 Toyota Camry 5 speed. My toy is a 1914 American LaFrance speedster, 3 speed. The LaFrance is way more fun!
i used to travel to tech service jobs in the EU quite a lot, which meant a lot of hire cars. the only issue i had was trying for the handbreak and fishing round the drivers door pocket!Quote:

The car I bought two years ago is the first one I've ever owned with a automatic transmission. Getting soft in my old age, I guess.
Had a 1989 Nissan Maxima, 5-speed manual, and one car later went to a 1999 Nissan Maxima, also 5-speed manual. Tried to teach the kids to drive on it, but they didn't like it. Next one was an automatic, because no one else in the family could drive my car (that was my hidden advantage!!!) IMHO, manual is the only way to drive, to feel what the car is doing on the road, and to handle turns. j
Do it right and the clutch will outlast the car. Do it wrong and you'll be buying new clutches all the time.
