Chainsaws!!!
Maybe I got done watching Hotel Hell with Rory Calhoun and it made me think I really need a Chainsaw or maybe I just need to eliminate some trees in my yard. So not knowing squat about them can someone give me some pointers before I saw my leg off. I bought a small Husky 2.3HP gas model.

You'll probably get better advice from more experienced members but ...... I had a small one for working on singletrack bicycle trails. Fortunately I had experienced guys show me the ropes. Read safety manuals, follow the suggestions and maybe catch a youtube video or two. If you adjust the chain correctly and use it "right" you'll be fine. The main thing is that you don't let it kick back on you from improper blade angle and such ..... sound familiar ?

Thanked: 1936You did good on the brand, but the mentor advice could be the best you could hear & honestly could save your life. I grew up in the country, so a chainsaw was a part of life in the fall. They are HELL on the back too...buy some icy hot before you start making sawdust.

Thanked: 884Kind of fond of Stihl's myself. Got one with a 36" bar for the light work.
Good friend of mine just got 41 stitches in leg last week. No tendons or arteries cut though. Said he could see his kneecap for a bit and it really didn't hurt all that much. Drove 2 hours to a hospital. He was more pissed about cutting up his Wrangler jeans than he was his leg.
I'd think about hiring a younger man to run that saw.
My big Stihl nearly whipped my old ass the last time I played with it. Gonna have to break it out again and take out a tree that was planted too close to my house before it wrecks the slab.
