    Funny that this thread should appear now. A few days ago, the very last typewriter made in Britain was built at the Brother factory in North Wales and was donated to the London Science Museum.

    There are places that still sell them. They aren't the original cotton-based ribbons but now they use a nylon underlay. So that isn't a problem.

    The guy I spoke to said the problem moving forward now is to find the rubber platens (rollers). The place all the restorers were using recently closed shop.
