a couple custom coyote calls
i had a local guy make me up some hand made coyote calls last year and since alot of us enjoy a fine piece of wood in our razors scales i thought id share these 2 .. my fav wood for a call as far as looks is spalted maple or bocote , i am really considering having a set of scales made in the spalted maple or trying to make my own .. something more exciting about being on a hunt and calling an animal in no matter what it is , watching there reactions to your calls , switching a call up to bring them back ect , ect ..

These look great. Are you going to make the mouth piece out of wood in the future?
I'm gonna go call in some yotes tomorrow (hopefully...) I have yet to actually bag one, but I've been close. wish me luck.

Those are beautiful. What sort of sound brings one in-some sort of prey distress sound?
There are many roads to sharp.

i will search for some vids .. the shorter one is more high pitched yet softer in sound a thinner reed , more of a young or female yote ..
the longer one has a bigger bore , thicker reed , and is more raspy or lower in tone like a old dominant male ..
both can produce the howls , wimpers , greeting cadences ect of the yotes as well as most of the sounds of rodents , rabbits , and other distress sounds of injured prey .. so there is alot you can do with them all depending on hand placement on the bore and pressure put on the reeds as well as moving the band up or down the reed or how far down you put your teeth on the reed ... the last year or so ive done more calling in the parks for fun then hunting them as it is easy to bring em to the road for the kids to see ...lol.. it always gets the park rangers in a stir and usually leads to a vehicle search but hey im all good and its legal ...lol
