Thanked: 101Well done! When you see him snapping and popping through "pass and review" you will feel something inside of you you have never felt before while looking at your son. Congrats!

As a retired Marine Corp officer, I can say from the bottom of my heart your son made the right decision. He has a long, tough journey ahead and will do fine because of the support of you and his family.

Congratulations Roy. We are in much the same boat as our son is our only child and it was a little scary when he went into the Marine Corps in 2005 straight out of High School.
Too bad you weren't east of TX as he would be at Parris Island and my son could possibly be his Drill Instructor. My son is a Drill Instructor in the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island, SC

Thanked: 101My brother went through San Diego Navy Boot Camp. I went to "Great Mistakes" I mean Great Lakes IL. I too remember the day of "pass and review" with my fiance and Father in the stands watching. Spinning rifles, band playing, flying breakdowns, marching, marching, and marching! EYES RIGHT!!

You will be damn proud at graduation from MCRD San Diego. I still get goosebumps when I recall my son's graduation, especially when the CO who was addressing the audience said, "Now please excuse me as I address my Marines." Then he says "Good morning Marines" and the thunder of several hundred Marines shouted back, "Good Morning sir, Oorah!" It was something I will NEVER forget! It was also incredible to think that my father walked those same parade grounds back in 1944 in Platoon #146. RIP Dad, you would be proud of what your grandson has accomplished.

Thanks for raising and backing a man! He will probably be able to have his choice of razors after Basic and further MOS training. Further thanks to all who helped along the way!!
Just 52 years back I graduated from San Diego as a Navy man.
