I found a pipe!
Hello guys,
As a little kid I remember one time coming across an old pipe which belonged to my grandfather. Some days ago I saw the "Pipe of the day" thread and i instantaneously remembered that old pipe. So I searched the house and I finally found it. I am not a smoker, I have smoked cigarettes and some times I have smoked large amounts of them in a sort period of time (2 packets in one night while I was at bouzoukia ) but I never actually liked them (when I smoke I smoke davidoff whites I can't stand the taste of "heavier" cigarettes) although I must confess that I feel charmed of the whole pipe smoking idea (different tobacos, pipes e.t.c. ). But enough with talking (typing actually) here are some photos of my find.
So now I have some questions for you.
1) Can you give me any info about the company that made it and of what wood it is made?
2) What is it's value ($ and if it is agood pipe or a bad one and don't worry I have no intention of selling it)
3) Can I smoke with that pipe and what will I need? (although I don't see that coming anywhere in the near future)
Thank you,
Jason

We don't do appraisals of value on SRP, on razors, let alone tobacco pipes. Do a search on ebay for Thurmann pipe and maybe you'll get an idea of value.
I've been smoking them for thirty years and it look to be a good one. My advice, if you don't know how to smoke a pipe, is to look for Weber's Pipe Book or something like that. Like straight razor shaving, there is a learning curve to smoking a pipe successfully. It is a great pleasure if done right, if done incorrectly it can be painful. Maybe someone can direct you to online tutorials on correctly smoking a pipe, if there are any.
Best thing you can do is keep it as a remembrance of your grandfather and never smoke any kind of tobacco.
