Yeah I've always been taught same colour (or color for those in the states ;-)) belt as shoes...

I personally don't like brown shoes with black pants either, but brown does go with beige very nicely!

In my opinion it depends on several factors. 1 what type of trouser and what sort of black, 2 the style, material, shade and sheen of the footwear

Yes, I agree the belt should match the shoes, at least that's what I've read, either at The Gentlemen's gazette or The art of Manliness...I COULD buy beige trousers, but then I'd be half way to a Poirot look and could end up going all the way...

(Cindy says she doesn't give a shit about the boots any more just stop talking about it...)

Thank you. Chin's back up. I once had a grey leather jacket. Also a grey leather thin tie. Also, the first record I bought was The London Symphony Orchestra doing Star Wars songs. I used to think Natasha Kinkski was really hot. My father refused to take me to the circus when I was young...

I like sound of the record, I have LSO doing 2001, fairly sure its them, I also have the theme from the good the bad and the ugly, to admit a guilty pleasure my first record was a cassette, and it was bat out of hell, don't judge me. Also like thin ties, I am imagining that the jacket would be a 2 or 3 button single breasted with a double gussets at the back with a fairly thin collar and lapel, which could look good if it was worn in and used as a smasual jacket. circuses are populated by animal torturers and scary clowns, sounds like he was being cruel to be kind.
Have you thought about one pair of bespoke shoes, had a look on like there isa lady in glenelg. Then you could combine all the bits you like, especially now Mrs Carl has given you the green light. I like a bit if a Cuban heel, not coz I'm short just coz.

I agree with CC, I think the secret is to at all times avoid fashion, and look for classic style, though I think everyone is guilty of the odd faux pas.

The way I think of it, as a general rule of thumb, is don't ask women for advice on clothes. Unless they're professionals. It seems a bit like the leader asking the follower where to go. I think at some stage you have to know your style, your size, what you can get, etc., so if you're not sure read into it, and go into some good stores and ask them for opinions. I'd pick up some pants and say something like, 'what shoes would you wear with this?'.

Classic style boot? Can't go far wrong with a pair of Doc Martens 2976. :)
