Careful now Mr Schneider, much as cowboy boots aren't my cup of tea, coffee, ovaltine, hot chocolate or otherwise, I am sure quite a few people here are keen on them, and they most likely also own guns. :-). I am pretty sure they wouldnt really like your taste in boots either, however I don't think you will be able to effectively defend yourself with witty ripostes if they come a knocking.

I would mostly agree with frankensteins comment about your style, though I would seek opinion from anyone who I considered stylish, whether professional or not, you didn't provide any insight into the two ladies from work, do they hang out in leggings and bintang singlets out of work, or are they more chic than that? Ultimately unless you are completely confident in your clothes you will not look stylish no matter how well and classically tailored your outfit might be, the need for acceptance will positively radiate from your very core.

I always buy American! Ariat makes fine boots if you dont want to spend $500 on a pair. I got a great pair from bullhide made by them from Cavenders. Only dropped about $150 on them and they were broken in 2 days later.

Though if you want to get into pricey ones - you have to go with the boot that John Wayne (and several Presidents) preferred - Lucchese

Since Carl lives in Australia, I doubt he's too concerned about buying American.

Edit to add: I do love my Ariats. The only problem is they use a pretty soft rubber for the soles. If you spend much time on pavement they wear pretty quickly. I replace mine about once a year.

HNSB - are your Ariats square toe, round toe or classic "cockroach killers"? I've always bought square toe -- more comfortable since im on my feet a lot. But I saw a great pair that doesn't come with the square toe - they are more pointed.

About the only time I'm ever not wearing boots is when I'm sleeping or in the shower. The toe has never bothered me.
