    Default guilty pleasures

I thought in light of the recent boots thread I would start a guilty pleasures thread, for those things that you just can't admit to liking but do,or if young and hip claim to like ironically.
2 openers, period dramas - still a bit in denial about this one but when my wife watches them I tend to get sucked in.
John Farnham but only the voice as far as I know.

Don't be shy let them out....

Who doesn't like period dramas? But only the British really know how to make them, it's just our perfect attention to detail, I'm a stickler for detail and I defy anyone to find historical fault in a drama such as Cranford or Little Dorit, Great Expectations, impossible.

i think that any non british period dramas shouldn't be allowed. I also enjoy hbo's offerings of non period drama series'. As a teenager I grew up in the Cotswolds so lived near quite a few of the locations used in various tv productions. Not to mention time team. I rather enjoyed downton abbey.

I had a friend who used to say, before he died, "If it is illegal, immoral, or fattening, I have a problem with it." Not me though ..... Anyway, I love old silent movies, dramas and comedies from the '30s, 40's and such. Nothing to be guilty about there. I also confess that I can like modern gangster flicks such as Goodfellas, True Romance and that ilk. For those I feel guilty because I feel that they are immoral, and emblematic of the coarsening of our culture. Just my two bits. YMMV.

Downton Abbey is so good there is nothing guilty about it at all. The guilt should be felt by those that haven't seen it.

Mrs. Crawley: I'll take that as a compliment.

Lady Grantham: I must have said it wrong.

    GOLD I tell ya!

a lot of theguys i work with seem to almost exclusively watch the modern gangster movies/ series, unfortunately they seem to think that it makes them a bit gangster too, they aren't.

I have the same exact quote: except with a NOT before illegal. MY friend who is still alive and having a great time says: "Don't smoke, don't drink and get to bed early every day and you will die healthy." Wise words.
