Thinking about turning a blank into a razor...
Hey Everyone! it's been awhile since i've been around, things have been somewhat hectic, but i'm trudging through it. Anyway, I was thinking about getting a grinder from home depot or lowe's, and I'm looking for a blade blank. I want to try my hand at making a single piece blade, so the type of steel blank i'm looking for is one that has been heat-treated and the ONLY thing it needs is to be ground to shape/size and have the blade formed and honed. I don't want to do the heat-treating myself, as I don't have the materials to do it. again, it's just something I want to try and see how it turns out. Any info would be appreciate and if anyone could sell me some blanks fitting those specs, I'd appreciate even more.
Have a good one!

Thanked: 1936Check out this thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/forge...ake-razor.html
You just need a nice piece of 1" x .25" of O-1 or 1095 steel & patience. Make your own pattern, I don't know of anywhere that makes blanks...this deal that I did was a one shot thing back then. I use FlatGround.Com - Precision Flat Ground Tool Steel Stock and Drill Rod in O1, A2, D2, S7, and Low Carbon. for my steel. If I can do it with a simple Ryobi 4x36 grinder, anyone can...Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

Either try to get hold of a razor blank that has been profiled and heat treated or start from scratch and ask around for someone willing to heat treat it for you so you can actually do the whole process yourself from start to finish (except HT).
