Thanked: 203So Far, so good, but will be keeping a very close eye on it. The plan is the extractor for wood and synthetics {handle materials} and when grinding steel, yes, i have a galvanised bucket of water on the floor which the catcher is just to guide the swarf into. Panited it to make it a little more heat resistant and slicker.
The extractor is hoped to make a big difference when making handles as that is the lighter dust that gets all over the workshop.Respectfully,
Adam.

It will also stick to the inside of the black plastic hose and form a hard crust there. I had something similar to your setup, and found that it is not a good solution for burning sparks of metal. Instead I have a big bucket of water standing there instead of the dust collector.

Nice looking Grinder! It is pretty fun to build your own isn't it. Mine probably took a couple months of after work time to get it to where I wanted. Even meticulously painted it, lol. Pretty sure after a couple uses it was a waist of time. Have fun!

That shop looks pretty well equipped to do anything you ask of it. Way too clean though...
I'm going to need a bigger bathroom

Hi Adam,
When you around a few weeks ago we chatted about Scroll Saws... Aldi has one going for about 100 this saturday, and a lathe for 150. Im thinking of buying the lathe, to attempt a few brush handles and pepper mills and perhaps the scroll saw as well... not sure how to read the specs of the lathe to see if it will be suitable (power etc) but it's cheap enough I think to give it a go and find out. They're both on their website at the moment if you wanted to have a look (or any other Aussies)It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

Andrew I have a very old little lathe similar to this
It has the pulleys in the end to adjust speeds
You'll find that getting a scroll chuck to fit is usually an issue
Sure it would do what you are looking at butSaved,
to shave another day.

Thanks...
I didn't even know what a scroll chuck was lol... Im pretty ignorant to these things... my dad's toolbox was a set of screwdrivers, pliers and business cards for the handyman, plumber etc.
I did a quick good search and found this youtube videoIt's nice to be important, but more important to be nice
