    Hi all
    Hi my name is Santiago, i'm hobbist in knifemaking and now will try with straightrazor, my first idea is make a kamisori, this is a draw ..comments are welcome

    Welcome. So it's looking good.
    Use 1070. That is perfect. 1045 will be a bit too low in carbon.

    Finally use a 5160 piece
    I think 6mm thickness is too much, so think hammer it to 4 mm, what do you think?

    I think you should leave it at 6 mm. The ratio for width - thickness should be between 3.5 - 1 and 4 - 1. If you go thinner, the honing angle will be too shallow, leading to a more fragile edge that is more difficult to hone, and your razor will quickly develop wide bevels.

    A razor is not a knife, and this is the most common mistake made by knifemakers who make their first razor. A razor is thicker than a knife. 4-1 is the flattest you should go.
