    Default Wedge question

When you guys talk about a wedge grind, is it a true flat grind or what I would call a "big wheel" grind where you have a shallow hollow from grinding the razor on a large stone wheel? Or is it a range of grinds shallower than say a 1/4?

    Big wheel grind.

The only razors that are flat ground are framebacks and rattlers(faux frameback).

As far as I know there has never been a true wedge razor.

Thank you kindly, sir. So what would be the typical wheel diameter(s) typically used for a wedge? Also, why do they call the faux frame back a rattler?

The faux frameback in the illustration looks surprisingly not flat ground. Here is a link to help with your question about rattler: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...n-rattler.html

Thank you for that link. Interesting stuff. Do the wedge and near wedge razors generally have the same spine thickness as the more hollow ground blades?

Does it work any better than the search box on every other forum in existence?

They should have so the blade geometry has the proper spine width to to blade width ratio. For that what happens between the two, the grind, is more or less irrelavent.

Yup, the search box works just fine as long as you input the correct key words.

You are correct. The search function on here does work a fair bit better than others. Thanks.
