I have thought recently that tipping a container of glitter into someone's toolbag would be a fairly harmless way to have some fun, every time they got a tool out they would get sparkly hands which in turn would lead to sparkly everything else

You need to be very careful Ed. I'm betting the WA mining industry has a whole rulebook devoted to the dangers of frivolous glitter use. Window seat for sure.

The tail is ok. The twisting made it a bit thin, but that is called learning
More important is grinding thin and even enough that the bevel is thin everywhere, and equally narrow.

thank you for your input ill try leaving more meat on the tail next time before twisting, or ill leave it at one twist. this is two full twists, in this small section was prob way too much.
for the grind, i rough the whole thing with a larger wheel and set the bevel to test the wear pattern and bevel evenness. then i true up the wear on the spine and even out the bevel using that same larger wheel before moving up in the grits or stepping down in wheel size. on this one ive done that already but just stepped down to a 4" wheel to hollow out a bit more. i was thinking of dropping to a 2" after but i like the degree of hollow after the 4" on this blade. its still a messy, rushed rough grind and i need to settle the ADD down a bit when i get back to the shop so i can even up the grind and smooth the transition from the larger wheel to the smaller one, was planning on leaving more of a belly in the blade, seemed to fit this blade ok but im not settled on doing that either.

I use a 4" wheel most of the time. That works well. You just have to grind more at the edge area.
In order to end up with a narrow bevel, I grind until the blade passes the thumbnail test. At that point, honing is simple and easy.

Probably true I had best save it until I want to leave then I will have to buy glitter wholesale.

The big smilling blade looks awesome. Not sure about the long tail. (or blue, sparkly scales)
