Hey all,
Today skipnord and I went to steel warehouse/distributor that had auctioned off 40,000 lbs of steel. The deal was we had our choice of the steels in that lot. It sold for 50 ยข per lb !
My interest was in getting some steel for post anvils. I already have a bunch but nothing this good, so I stocked up!
Essentially 2 27"x3"x4" of D2
2 17"x3"x4" of 4142
several 1 3/4" pieces of 4140 round bar for making hammer heads
3 pieces of A2 block
several small smaller pieces of 4142
Total 550 lbs , 300 miles , $330 and 12 hours of time.

You need to start showing you picks of the forging from your last haul
You should enough steel to make every hammer you could need LOLSaved,
to shave another day.
