Thread: Failed at hollow grinding

I was going to try to do a 1/4 hollow but actually thought this was going to be easier, lol. Ill try to 8" and run another test. I also ordered a 5" wheel.

I definitely think this played a role. That damn line was pretty tricky.
I am located in Southern Colorado. I honestly do not know if there are razor smiths in my area. It would be great to find one. I am fairly new to this, obviously.

On another note, someone mentioned a dual wheel grinder. They look very difficult to find. Does anyone know who makes them? I'm obviously still learning and not ready to buy one but would like to at least look into it.

Where about in Southern Colorado? I'm north of Denver.

A few makers that I know of have experimented with dual wheel grinders that they have built. I don't think any of them stuck with them. The dual wheel grinders that are in use, to my knowledge, are all European machines that were built and paid for a long time ago. There is a Dovo video that features one or more of them.

Practice. It's not abnormal to have issues when you're first hollow grinding. It's not difficult in terms or complexity. It's just something that needs experience to know and recognize where you are and where you need to go from there. You took it too far.

I am in Durango. I have been considering moving to Denver or ABQ though.

I'll keep you in mind the next time I'm down that way.

I would start with a near wedge first. Get that down then increase your hollow grind.
