Yup, despite the hardness of the blade and the crazy amount of time it took me to set the bevel the shave was pretty good.
On to more learning I say!

If it takes longer than 5 minutes, the edge is not thin enough.
This is the technique I showed a couple of times in Texas, and this way you can get bevels straight off the grinder that are so small that even after they pass the thumb nail test, you can hardly see them unless you hold the razor to the light just right.
