Thanked: 59Kamisori Work In Progress
It quit raining for a little bit today so I was able to fire off the forge. I hardened the blade from my other post and got this pounded out as well. It is from an old spring tooth harrow tine. I still need to grind the bevels (obviously). It is for a friend of mine who requested one. Also got to try out my new knife making tongs. They worked great. It's a way better way of holding rectangular steel!

Thanked: 59Thanks, probably a western grind. I hope to at least get it rough ground today and heat treated.
I've noticed that these harrow tines (I found in my fathers field) are impressive steel. They seem to have more carbon in them than car springs do. Not that the car springs are bad, just that these things are quite impressive. They are stiffer under the hammer and throw off significantly more sparks on the belt grinder, even when annealed.
