I've got a stub tailed Rodgers marked cast steel and I've seen a few from the late 1700s to early 1800s marked that way. At home I have a book on razor collecting that gets into it but I am at work now. Here is a Wikipedia article that is about cast steel although it is referred to as crucible steel in the article.

I have a Cast Steel blade made by Greaves (it actually only says Sheaf Works on the scales, but same difference). She happened to come with the bevel pretty much set, so she took an edge rather quickly. She's a hell of a shaver.
I'd love to see some pictures of the one you've got, if possible.

I don't know if you mean mine or Ronnie's. Here is mine. Since then I've honed it up and shaved with it.

My Dannemora Helje is cast steel. Was quite a challenge to get right but well worth the trouble. Now one of my best... And I was gonna sell it
