No plans, it is just a holder for the wheel and a cross-slide vise for the tension and tracking. It could be done any number of ways.

The grinders and buffer work well. I am now trying to figure out a simple way to contain the coolant as it comes off of the belts.

I am also trying to figure out the best way to build an adjustable platform/rest to go between/under the two wheels.

I am really happy with the results so far.

So, does it track just by keeping the wheels co-planar? Will this setup let you run the belt so it hangs over one side or the other?

    Thanks

You can adjust the tracking one way or the other. The drive wheels are crowned in the middle, the belt always tries to go to the top of the crown. This allows you to make the belt track where you want it.

Sorry to revive and old thread. But its better than starting a new one..

In the first photo, is that a standard Bench mandrel that you machined a new center rod that is longer? Or can you buy one that long?

Also what is the one with the red motors used for? It looks like it woukd send things flying out like a baseball pitching machine... I assume it wasnt finished at the time of the original post.. How about an update?

The first photo is two pillow blocks/bearings with a piece of 5/8s drill rod being used for the shaft. There are tapered adapters on either end of the drill rod.

The red motor thing is my two wheel grinder that I made. It was better in theory than in use, I still have it but do not use it very often.
