Thanked: 7Caledonian, sound thinking on the "cleanliness" factor of checkering. I was primarily focused on the design aspect. Razor handle design and decoration is such a wide open field I admit I lose a little sleep over it and I'll bet I'm not the only one! Thanks for your response.

Yes, it does come pretty close in texture but performs a specific task in that it breaks up reflected light. Beautiful razor, but the way. In the form follows function category it gets very high marks. As in knifemaking, designing straights to be as simple as possible and still perform their intended task is very difficult.
