There's several places. Mc Master-carr, Aldo the steel baron, admiral steel, Enco,... Even several of the knife stores carry some bar stock.

Thanked: 1936Damascus is rather expensive, but I do agree that it is lovely. There is a pretty good list of suppliers on the workshop sticky as well IIRC

Thanked: 2209One of our guys who you met at the Mid-Missouri meet, Mike Blue, has what you want, including Damascus. Send him a PM.

Shame you're not in the UK as shipping would be crazy. Old files are good for 1095, a lot of knifemakers in the UK buy Alabama damascus from the States so it must be available...if you're stuck let me know and I'll find a link. I'm sure somebody closer to home will be along to point you in the right direction though!

Imo: first try making something in O1 or 1095.
If you got the hang of it, switch to pattern welded.
Otherwise you're going to be making your beginner mistakes with that, and those would be expensive mistakes.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
