Jeff, it's definitely straight enough to hone. Now, whether it stays that way during HT, who knows. I got the edge a little thin during filing, so we'll see. I have Mike Blue's address, and will be sending it to him tomorrow!

If your edge is smiling, it will NEVER touch the hone from heel to toe. That is how the geometry works out.
What you see is perfectly normal.
