From what?
I am a fairly safety concious person and I make them wear whatever is appropriate.
But the refractory mix was already wet and not dusty. The plate she was sawing was simple wooden board, without the use of powertools, and a vacuum cleaner was running (hence the clamshells). As far as I can tell, there is no reasonable reason to require safety glasses.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Yeah, perhaps I was being over cautious, I generally get my daughter to wear glasses, but I dont have dust extraction, I do tend to worry about dust and such after a piece of dirt blew into my eye, after I had cut a manhole in my floor I stuck my head through to see what I needed to do to fix the floor, and the wind whipped up some of the sawdust from the cutting I had done and I ended up having to go to hospital.
I also work in an environment where glasses are compulsory, not that I necessarily agree with wearing safety glasses all the time. But we do get shown a lot of vids on safety and it is certainly easy for an accident to happen.
Anyway, do those shoes she is wearing have steel toecaps? :-)Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Check out Zoeller forge. It is a forge site, that will show how to make burners, and even a propane forge from a coffee can, capable of welding heat. http://zoellerforge.com/
