I have been doing some grinding practice and talked to a few local heat treating guys. Still haven't shaved with one yet but it's on my list of things to do. There is so much stuff to research and I have been reading up lots. My sharpening friends have been passing on some knowledge to me as well. I find a difference of opinion will alot of stuff I have read like hones. The geometry side is pretty similar though. Many years spent by alot of guys trying different things. I hope to meet with a maker soon and talk.
