Thanked: 2027All the accidents I have had were do to mostley youthfull stupidity,I:E.
30 yrs ago,Needed to cut some rabbit joints in 3ft maple brds using my jointer,Removed the gaurd as it was sort of in the way,Proceeded to remove the tips of three fingers on my left hand,(to this day I cannot feel with them as the nerves are gone.
Used to make custom furniture,Had some 80 tooth carbide pricision Japanese 8 in table saw blades,1/16 thick, zero kerf,Yep removed the gaurd cutting snakewood, hard as hell, kicked back and took the tip of my rgt thumb off.
Worst accident, that darn near killed me was,I had this great old maple butcher block,4in thick,4 wide,5 long,I needed to trim it to 3 wide to make a killer workbench, had to wgt 150 lbs, maybe more,What I did not realize is that they have 1/2 steel rods in them as they are laminated,I can do this myself says I.At the time I had a 10 inch anciant Oliver table saw 8HP,220, three phase running off a home made phase convertor.Set up the fence, tilted that puppy up and pushed, all was going well, until the blade hit the first steel rod,The thing kicked back and hit me right in my lower rib cage,Knocked me out cold.By the grace of god my wife comes out to the shop, saws runnin,Im out cold laying in a heap, slaps me awake (she was an ER nurse so no panic, just action) all turned out well, broke 4 ribs is all.
I do not do that sort of stuff anymore

I can feel your pain. I had only smaller accidents, but I had to work three weeks with an ophtalmologist this summer. (I am a 5th year medical student)
I have seen a lot of eye injuries there, and some were very scary. The worst I have seen was a 7 year old boy who played with a knife, and literally has cut his right eye in two. His eye has been saved, but he most likely won't be able to see with it ever again. So please take care everyone!
Get well soon shooter, I am glad that your sight has been saved, and furtunately your injury wasn't that bad.

Thanked: 1936Eye is getting better, my body has to get rid of the rust. I would estimate it around 80%. Thank you for asking.
Here is a pic of the blades sent off to the leather guy, I don't have a photo editor in this new computer to lighten up & crop the pic. THe scales are of bois d arc per customer request, pins of brass over copper, & glued. As soon as I get them back from the leather guy I will give them a final polish on the buffer, final out the handles, and of course sharpen them. They are 60-61 hrc if I remember what my HT guy said, so should take a very nice edge & hold it.

Interesting blade shape on them. Look nice. I'm sure he'll love them!
