First crack at forging a razor
I got busy this morning and had a crack at forging out a couple of razors. I'm still new to forging so ill be interested to see how they turn out.
The knife is a stock removal I'm working on but I got sick of sanding so lit up the forge. It's 250mm for size comparison.
Both razors will have a final blade length of about 75mm and I will do a hollow grind of some type, although that will have to wait until I get to a mates place as I'm not set up for hollow grind as yet. (I'm in the process of sourcing an 8,4 & 2 wheels).
All three blades are 1075 so ill home heat treat. I have some other carbon steels ill have a play with later to compare.
Thanks for looking.

Thanked: 6Looks interesting. Be sure to post pics when you're done and let us know how they shave. I'm a bit concerned about the far left razor though. It seems the curve on the tail is going the wrong way?

Nah, it's meant to be like that... It's for shaving upside down! Ha ha, actually I've stuffed it, was so busy trying to fix the other one, which went through a few design 'alterations' that I've got it wrong. I can feel a twist in that one coming on too! Thanks for the pick up.
A valuable lesson to be learnt here about planning, templates and fore-thought! I just got excited and turned the forge on. Oh well, I won't do it twice... I hope.
