    Default Where to get an electric motor?

    In the process of a belt grinder build and an thinking a 2hp 1725 motor. Any advise on where to get a good deal besides Ebay...?

    Any surplus stores near by?? I know here in Ontario we have some. An old furnace fan motor is another option. Or check a local classified website for one???? Maybe some of the other guys might have some better options.

    should have read that better. A furnace wont have a 2 hp motor, sorry about that.

    I've seen them in army surplus stores, and machinist workshops etc.

    I just bought one from RS Baldor, Leeson, & Marathon Electric Motors, Sales, Repair&Service

    Do you plan on one speed, a belt drive system, or vfd? These are things a salesman needs to know...

    Going with a single speed and use four-step pulleys
