Default Made my heart bleed, keep getting flashbacks

The other day on a flea market suddenly my heart started to race. A Herder razor coffin big enough to accommodate a razor 8/8 and over. I carefully opened it and a heavy razor blade at teast 10/8, no rust on spine and tail, appeared. When I pulled the blade out of the scales a serrated edge, like you get when you try to cut a brick with a razor came out. Not to bad, remove 2/8 of the blade and you still have an 8/8 blade left.

On closer inspection I saw a crack running from cutting edge more half way up to the spine. My heart started to bleed. "What does the law have to say about cruelty to razors?" went thorugh my mind.

I keep having flash backs. Any suggestions for treatment?

Thanks for reading, I had to get this off my chest. Shared pain hurts only half as badly we say in Dutch. I don't know whether there is an English equivalent.

The only treatment is to buy a new undamaged razor of your choice. painful I know but it must be done!

Wow, that must be heart breaking. The only cure is to keep looking and find one with a good blade.

    Hey Kees
Where is the crack? If it is close to the toe some of our masters may be able to salvage the blade. Just a thought.

Middle of the cutting edge running slightly towards the heel.

If it was cheap enough, it could be made into a nice shorty. Not that I am an expert in such things, but I have thought that a half length blade might be useful.

The only one that I know of that comes close to this is "A problem shared is a problem doubled". Or maybe it should be "halved". Either works, depending on the circumstance...

That is a real bummer. But it always helps me to try to keep a perspective on these things: a razor is simply a tool, and sometimes tools break. It is disappointing when it happens, but we gird our loins and carry on.
