Default Is it Cell Rot? How Suspicious Should a Buyer Be?

Here is a well polished vintage Friodur image. I am very suspicious of anything that looks like patterned stains below the scale line. If this picture was all you had to go on would you say it's cell rot for sure, maybe, can't tell or don't be ridiculous?

Looks more like somebody put the razor away without completely drying the inside of the scales

But I don't like making calls without using all my senses and being able to assess the entire story so this is what we call a WAG

I'm with Glen, most likely water spotting. Put the razor in a zip-loc bag overnight, sealed, and smell the next day. What does it smell like?

It smells like my notepad; sorry - this image came from an auction item. I don't own it.

Hard to say but it doesn't look like cell rot to me.

I'd really need to see the scales before I'd even throw a guess out.

If you can take a pic that has the blade in focus it will be much easier to access the condition

Celluloid rot typically is much worse rusting of the blade part that sinks into the space between the scales.

No mas! Photo is from an auction. It is this limited info which raises my "How Suspicious..." question.
