Passing it on/Paying it forward/Doing your bit
I was wondering if it was just me who does this. It doesn't matter where I am, although usually work. If I notice shaving rash or spots etc I have to ask what that person uses to shave. It's often a conversation which others will overhear, dismiss as boring and then ask questions on the subject.
I appreciate that I'm still new at this myself but learning how to shave properly has been a revelation to me. This being the case I tend to pass on what little knowledge I have to the chaps I work with, happy to say I've not had to speak with any ladies about their beard prep yet
Thus far it has been well received and I'll direct them to where they can get a DE or Straight and I'll give them a tube of RSC Cream and AS Balm to get them started (luckily my mum and wife went OTT on RSC stuff last year for me so it's a good excuse to make room for new stuff).
All but one is now clean shaven daily with only the odd nick/cut.
So, is anyone else as much a pest as I am?

I can imagine you begin to think 'what's the point' when making an effort for someone who doesn't appreciate it. Fortunately I get updates and more questions, usually on the straights. I'm yet to convince any of them of the virtues, they see my Harrison Bros and Howson battle scar and are put off.
Wee accident ages ago when the wife came in, mid shave mind you, and distracted me. Still think it gives me street cred!
I did find a straight enthusiast at work, although he's not used them for a while we waffled for hours and he's borrowed a strop from me to get going again. It's a manly revolution!Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cosy, doesn't try it on!

Thanked: 2284One of my coworkers has my DE89 right now giving it a try. I lent it to him to try, and so far he likes it a lot. Another coworker I sold my parker99r, plus a bunch of blades, all for a 2 egg breakfast.
I think a lot of guys see wet shaving as a very manly thing, which attracts them to it. Plus, your saving a lot of money not buying those stupid expensive cartridge razors. Win win.Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....

My wife is waiting for the fad to pass still, I think that as it has been nearly 6 months now I think she is starting to think I am going to stick with it.
Sending a new guy a razor is the equivalent of giving a stranger seomewhere between $20-50, and I will bet that plenty of those razors are now either wrecked and unused, or just unused, but most likely not given on, or returned to the original owner.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 177You are 100% right. You know if its free, its for me! Ive done some pifs honing before. I ask them if they have a strop and they say I will use my leather belt. So I rarely do it anymore. One guy I did it for pmd me telling me I did a lousy job as they cut his face to pieces! Not weepers, CUTS! I told him to get a mach 3 and lose my email.

i have gotten about five or six guys at work to start using DEs only one of them was bold enough to move onto a straight (shavette type) got the first two started by giving them each a razor and one of them a brush and soap, now I'm down to only one DE as the antique stores here never have them around.
