Thanked: 0DE vs Straight
Ok
I don't know how much time we talked about it, but still
What do you think? if you need to choose and why?
What gives you better shave or what do you prefer and why?

Well this is a straight forum so I think you'll find most people here are biased towards straights. I'm sure many here have a few DE's lying around and use them but if you asked this question on B&B you'll get another answer. Straight shaving is the classic way to shave and a lost skill which takes some skill to learn. DE shaving is more a vintage thing and requires little skill by comparison. Its just another way to stand out from the crowd and you get a better shave to boot.

Actually, I use both on a daily basis. I regularly do my first two passes with either a DE or an injector, and my final, against the grain pass with a straight for that 'baby-butt finish'. I can consistently get my neck closer with the 'handled' razor, and I find the 2 pass/1pass combination to be significantly more comfortable than 3 (or even 2) passes with the straight, while at the same time delivering close shaves that my barber even marvels at.
(....can I still play with you guys??.....)

Thanked: 0I own a DE and several straights. I would say that I use my DE when I'm rushed for time in the morning. I use my straights on days when I am less rushed and I also use them before going out in the evening.
As far as which gives a better shave? I find that the shaves I get from DE's and straights are equally comfortable but the straight does shave a bit closer. A straight shave takes longer because of the stropping before and after and making sure the blade is dry... however, the extra closeness more than justifies the extra time.
