Your First Cut??
I recently responded to a question about settings on an adjustable DE and it got me to thinking about my first cut shaving!
I started out with my dad’s non-adjustable DE so I knew what I was doing (or so I thought)! Well at least I hadn't gotten any cuts or nicks! I happened to be at his sister’s home in the town I was born in for the weekend and I had a date (I was 16) well I hadn’t practiced the 6P’s and hadn’t thought about a razor so I asked my uncle if I could use his DE (an adjustable) he said sure, so in I go, grab the can of Barbasol and lathered up and went to shave. First time down the cheek AWCRAP!!!! Big cut! Bled like all holy hell! With my aunt’s help and some ice packs and direct pressure we got the river dammed up!
THEN -- I TOOK TIME TO LOOK AT THE OPENING! It was huge compared to what dad’s was!!
I’ve never had a cut like that since/not even using a straight!
I guess it’s true -- The First Cut is the Deepest!
How about you guys? Am I the only one who remembers the first cut? How about the worse cut? Mine are one and the same!!
Just wondering!

In the beginning, I mostly got the red stripes that don't bleed. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe the first cut that bled real blood was in the side of my nose, when I tried a scything XTG pass on my upper lip. It wasn't too deep and closed within 30 seconds.
Haven't had real deep cuts, but I do at times have those awww crap that'll bleed in 30 seconds moments. Had one this morning.

I don't know if I ever cut myself with a cart... If I did it was unremarkable. To be honest, the same holds true with my DE.
Now when I started with my straight... why I clearly thought my left earlobe was a nucance. Blead pretty good, but what I recall most, was the weird stinging pain that just didn't go away.
Anyway - said slice made it easy to come up with a handle when I joined SRP.
