Question re selling items, SRP & eBay
I'm trying to get out of the red with my new straight shaving obsession (skin and wallet). It seems I've spent quite a bit already.
I have asked a friend of mine who is into antiques to keep an eye out for shaving related items for me. I will keep some items and resell the rest. I would prefer to sell the items that I don't keep for the best price I can. eBay, and an auction format is great for doing just that. Additionally, I'd like SRP members to have a shot at, or at least be made aware of the items I list.
So, my question is this. How would you handle this? Should I list them on eBay but then put a post with a link to the auction in the buy/sell/trade forums, or classifieds? Is that considered bad taste? Is there a preferred or more palatable method? Note, if I just post them in the forum first for a given price, I won't have an idea whether I've priced the item right or not.
Thanks,
John

I'd think if you want to sell them here, place an ad here and ask for what you what out of them.
Otherwise sell them on e-bay, doesn't guaranty you'll get a bidding war for them and secure you the highest price though...at least from what I've seen, unless you selling some pieces in high demand.
my .02 cents

I would say that you would first need to decide whether or not you are selling a given item to turn a profit. If the answer is yes then it should probably go straight to Ebay. If you're less concerned with making money and are more interested in giving fellow str8/shaving enthusiasts a shot at acquiring an item first regardless of profit then post it here or at other shaving forums and if nobody shows interest or offers a break even price then auction it on Ebay.

Why not put your items up for sale here and ask members to bid on them. I presume you know approximately at what price you want to sell the item.
Members can PM you to put in a bid. Eventually it is up to you to decide whether the price offered is right for you. And if you think a bid is too low you simply tell the bidder. If no satisfactory bid is put in you can withdraw the offer and try and get a better price at ebay.
