Thanked: 0Does shaving release endorphins?
After a year now i am turning my hand to straight shaving and producing some pleasing close shaves. I always set aside plenty of time to perform my ritual , take it slow ,enjoy my razor, finish off with a nice splash of favourite cologne.
Upon completion of my mow and exfoliation I have noticed a strange phenomenon occuring. I am totally relaxed and destressed, unlike my state an hour earlier at the end of a bad day. My breathing is calm and steady , my heart rate a slower pace, no shakes( my hands tremble sometimes) and i feel good about life.
Does anyone else get this feeling, is shaving a type of stress management, does it release chemicals in the body to make us feel good?

Whether it releases endorphin's I don't know, but what I do know is that shaving is a good feeling I know the feelings you describe and I feel them too, and I know that we are not alone.

I think it's pretty safe to say that it does release endorphins, as that happens rather easily under pleasurable conditions. Feeling all relaxed and with a lower heart rate sounds a bit more pleasurable than how I experience shaving. As it requires my full concentration, both to shave and not to get hurt by my interfering cat, I don't think of all my little insignificant troubles that otherwise keep playing through my mind. It's relaxing for my head

Thanked: 0I believe one of the possessions Buddhist monks are allowed to own is a straight razor, so maybe SR shaving ascends you to a trance -like state they probably use Mach3s nowadays
