Thanked: 18Shaved with a Gilette Mach whatever this morning
There are rare mornings when I elect to sleep late, and thus want the 20 minutes of shaving back. This morning I rolled out of bed at 6:30 feeling decadently late, so to make up time I did the 2 minute Gillette shower shave. Which I haven't done since I started straight shaving in Oct of last year.
What a CRAPPY shave it was! My gosh, my face feels all bumpily nasty and only 3 hours into the office and I've already got 5 oclock shadow. Bleh!!!

Thanked: 5You need a DE for those moments. I am new to this but I timed my single WTG SR shave using a good Shave cream that didn't require a brush. Figured this would be the worse case "need to get it done" situation. It took about 8 min. I figure one pass with a SR or DE is about the same as a crap shave with a Mach gizmo shaver.
Or just try this fine shaving instrument:

I know how you feel, had to shave after about a month of not shaving but I had got to my destination out of town and well my bags didn't get there until a day two later and of course my razors were in my bags because well can't bring them on the plane, had to use a five or six bladed contraption it was awful, my face hurt all day and it took way longer than if I would have had my straight because the blades kept clogging up. I don't know how people still say it is a good shave

Brainwashed by Gillette. Well actually, more like old school shaving is time consuming and people really just don't have the time for it. I don't think it started that way but that's why wet shaving isn't for everyone. Now.the revolt against high dollar crappy shavers is to just not shave at all. I had a goatee when I was younger but now it just plain look old with one.

Not because I was late, but because I wanted to see, after using my SR for 6 months, what the difference is between my SR and the Fusion Mach 5.
Granted, the Fusion shave was quicker, BUT OMG, what a lousy shave!!
I'm at work and my face feels awful!!
I had my wife and daughter check my face this morning....They were disgusted!!!
My daughter actually said, "Daddy, you're not REALLY going to work like THAT are you??!!
Never again

I recently had a 4 day vacation away. What I did was to make sure I had enough stropped razors ready to go. Brought a strop, hones, lapping marble, sandpaper, multiple soaps, etc., a razor that needed honing(just in case I got bored)...
In terms of the shave time, it was the same as usual and just as pleasurable, maybe a little more, shaving in a new location.
I will not buy those mach whatevers again. For the price of one of those I can get a good shaving beater straight from ebay.

Yeah, that's in a nutshell why I'm here. I could never achieve closeness and comfort with today's multiblade razor. My dad had more sensitive skin than I did and used an electric razor, and recommended that I do the same and accept the poor results.
This picture illustrates just how poor the results can be with an electric razor:
