I live by myself with a noisy half Siamese cat. I rarely go to social functions. I'm not fond of big crowds. I've reached the age where I no longer feel the need to impress others. Gave up on a 'significant other' many moons ago. I could grow back my full beard of some forty years (now just a trim goatee). So why do I find joy in straight razor shaving? Ah, let me count the ways:

1: A daily set routine gets the day off on the right foot.
2: Ritual is inborn in the human species.
3: Vanity.
4: A daily accomplishment leads to longevity.
5: Conquering a sharp object with no self damage.
6: Truly a quiet moment of the day for contemplation.
6: Getting the mind active by way of choice making among bowls, scuttles, palm or face lathering, brush choice, soap/cream choice(s), which of too many razors to favor that day and what ASB and/or AS to finish with.
7: Achieving what you set out to do, whether a DFS or a BBS for the heck of it.
8: Deciding which razors need re freshening.
9: Did I say vanity?

10: And this for only a few of SRP members. Remembering that putting your partial or full denture in BEFORE you shave saves a lot of grief over hills, valleys and the creation of nicks and the like.

I will straight razor shave till I can no longer hold a razor steady and make sure that any caretaker I need to have is proficient in that specific task.

My joys of straight razor shaving.
