Lather, strop, shave? ***or*** Strop, lather, shave
What is your routine?
1) lather first
2) strop
3) then shave
or do you prefer to
1) stop first
2) lather
3) then shave
For my money I lather first, strop, then shave. This way I get a little more beard softening time before I shave.
P.S. of course there might be a few who shave, lather, strop - but they need a good talking to.As the world continues more crazy than cruel, he spins like a top on the end of his tool.

I strop - lather - shave.
For me it seems the right way to do.
And ok, if I have to move a lot with lather on my face, when I have to start shaving, lather is everywhere but on my faceSometimes I feel normal.
Then it's time to lay down and wait for it to pass.

Strop Lather shave.
In cali we have really hard water so I have enough trouble keeping a nice creamy lather so waiting for stropping is out of the question

Lather, shave, strop. Everything in the box is ready for action!
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Thanked: 14On shave day, I shower then apply pre-shave cream, then usually face lather from hard soaps and shave. Post shave use alum block, then lotion or balm. I almost never strop in the bathroom immediately before shaving. Usually, my stropping is a separate Zen activity from the actual shave. Usually I'll strop multiple razors on several strops in another room the day or days before shave day. This way I devote my full attention to stropping which keeps most my rotation razors ready to use at any time. My finishing stone touchups and stropping are a combined separate activity. It's like having two hobbies with twice the fun.
