Thanked: 0Razor valuation from West Coast Shaving
http://valueguide.westcoastshaving.com/
A friend of mine emailed me this page. In short, WCS has used sale data from eBay to compile resale valuations for popular razors. It only had DEs right now, but it looks like the website format may accommodate straight razors in the future.
Here's how the website says it works:
The true value of a used product is dependent on the partical buyer and seller coming to an agreement on price for that particular item. Every transaction will be different for a variety of reasons, but using enough data points will ultimately reveal a general value if obtained through an unbiased and auction based source. There is no larger source of this data than eBay. We have licensed historical sales data from eBay and can compile individual sales to build a market value range. We are continually tweaking the algorithm to bring you the most accurate and up-to-date values. All data points are from actual, completed eBay sales. Auction listings which do not result in a completed sale are not included. Only sales of used items are counted as this is a market value guide for used items. New prices are already established and easily found at any retailer.
All data points are manually confirmed to ensure accuracy of specific items and to remove outliers which would skew the data. Outliers may consist of sales listings of multiple items, incorrect item descriptions, and obvious functional damage. At this time we are not removing data points with extreme sales prices, but may do so in the future if deemed reasonable (see roadmap).
Value ranges are recalcualted weekly and limited to the last 90 days to ensure the value range is up-to-date.
I think its an interesting concept. What do you guys think?

It would be a LOT of work to do that!
Would be pretty neat to see what the "market price" is for some of the razors though....

I think that very quickly you'll get widespread use of shill-bidding and last-minute retractions in order to amp up the value of individual's collections. It's already happening to a small degree because of the 'price guide' type books on razors.

What is wrong with going straight to Ebay and looking at current events? Any guide is soon obsolete. It is there on Ebay and updated on a daily basis already. JMO
