Hello Gents, just joined up.I'm contemplating str8 razor shaving.I've been DE shaving for 5 months now & I need a new challenge.I'm a auto technician(Lexus/Toyota) & I suspect that's the reason DE shaving is losing it's cache for me(quick muscle memory) although the ritual still appeals to me very much. From what I've read so far it would take years if not decades to learn this art properly. After researching for weeks now I think the best bet is to purchase Lynn's DVD & go from there.I welcome any suggestions or opinions...Vic

Welcome aboard, Vic! I agree with your thought that purchasing that video will help greatly. There are many ways to get the supplies you will be needing and that video is a great place to start. My biggest advice is if a brand new razor can be had on Ebay for under $25, don't buy it without checking out the thread on Pakistani razors. One poor shave with a Paki razor will send you running to the store to buy more Fusion blades and canned cream! If you search around the library area of this site, there is another shaving video that Lynn did a while back, it's a good video to get an idea of what a good straight razor shave looks like.
Good Luck!

Welcome aboard Vic. It doesn't take long to get yourself a clean shave but then it will take years of experimenting to find that perfect routine. The journey's tons of fun though, especially if you develop accute acquisition disorders.

Trust me, it only takes half a decade, but way more engaging than a DE. Have fun.

Hello Vic, Pay your bills on time even though that Theirs-Issard, a 3 inch Strop, those wonderful creams and soaps, great aftershave products and a new honning stone look really nice.
Anyway, it's all about learning an acient art and having a ball doing it.
