Thread: My first convertee

I went to a friend of mine yesterday, he showed a bit of interest in the old school shaving experience and even asked if I would give him a shave. Since I started only recently, I told him I needed a bit more practice.
Yesterday I had my Merkur DE with me and told him that once my shaves with a straight go well and I don't need the DE anymore, if he wants, he can have the DE. He was shocked when I told him the cost of the blades, he shaves with one of the gillette cartridge razors. He also asked me if he could see the Dovo straight razor.
He needed to shave and I told him, if he wanted he could use the DE, but that was to soon for him, he didn't dare it yet and wanted to do some research first.
However, I did make him some lather, I had my proraso with me. He was speechless after the shave, he didn't expect a big difference but had a very smooth shave. He was converted right after the shave, is interested in using the DE and even wants to go for a SR.
I gave him directions to the forum, whippeddog and a few online shaving courses.

Hmmm this story sound familliar..........

Using the DE now and loving it, bought a SR but not yet confident enough to use it, had it in my hand the last shave but switched to the de.

Great for you man!!! I started with DE and built up to a straight a little at a time.

You will be rewarded in Heaven...

Did use my SR for the first time yesterday, was planning on just trying a small part of my sideburns but ended up shaving a complete cheeck with it without cuts or razorburn.

Had Yves over to help me a little bit with the stropping and checking my SR to see if it had to be honed.

Also had my little brother over and he tried the DE and loved it. He will get Yves DE as soon as i can do a full shave with the SR and he will be shopping for a SR one of these days!
