Thread: Spit shave

Ok. It's late, or early, depending on how you look at it. I'm sick and can't seem to get to sleep. Naturally I'm visiting my razors and going over a project of mine. Having recently honed a restoration of mine I've been fiddling with getting the edge finished. Did some serious Stropping and was ready to test shave. Having little energy or desire, my feverish (101.4 F) mind decided spitting on my hairy leg and giving it a test shave should do the trick. Let me say, great in a pinch. Lol. Shaved like a full prep and lather.

not sure if i will be running out to try that one but hey if it works it works.

All kidding aside, spit shaving is NOT a good idea!!

The bacteria residing in our mouths are capable of causing some extremely nasty infections; human bite wounds are in fact worse than many animal bites due to presence of organisms like the delightfully named Eikenella corrodens! So a nick or cut while using saliva is really asking for unnecessary trouble.

I saw a bunch of these infections back in my active duty ER days... mostly on the hands of Marines who'd punched another Marine in the mouth... some of those guys required hospitalization and surgical treatment. This ain't no joke!

Here I've been saving up my spit in a bowl to shave with this weekend. Guess I'll have to find another use for it. Maybe a hair tonic?

Heck, I was just working up a good lunger, and now I have to go out and hang it in the bushes. What a waste!

Lol I was thinking the same after reading it twice just to make sure I didn't miss read it the first time.

What ever it is that you took that made you

1) take hold of a very sharp instrument.
2) take a look at your leg and think hmmm lets spit on that hairy bad boy and give it a shave.
3) post about it on a public form.
